Something different maybe?

Lately, I've been getting bored of Minecraft. I think the sheer scale of Project Skywall burnt me out half way through it, so I'll probably take a break until the Halloween update comes out. For the time being, I'll probably just work on my backlog of anime and VNs, or I might pick up another huge timesink of a game, like

this.

I've been meaning to get back to playing this game for a few months. It's a space sim that focuses on building a trade empire in a sandbox universe. Now, while trading plays a big part in the game, there's plenty of combat as well. I'll talk more about it later. It's a bit of a shame that this game isn't too popular, but understandable at the same time due to the learning curve and that it can get a bit boring at times. But because of that, many people compare the game to Eve Online, but as a veteran of that game with four years experience I can safely say that X3:TC is better than Eve by leaps and bounds for many reasons.

One of those reasons being the community. Eve is a MMO filled with a...dedicated userbase. Many of them take the game too seriously, to the point where they treat it like a second job. Literally. I had a comic that accurately portrayed what goes on in a 0.0 alliance, with a guy punching children while shouting stuff like "X up in alliance!" or "Get in a battleship!" and of course "No carebearing!", but searching through my 4chan folder for a specific image is like searching through a bin of legos for a specific piece. Anyways, there's a fucking metric shit-ton of drama over anything and everything in Eve. There will always be something or someone in their corp/alliance that people will bitch about. I don't think I was ever in a corp that was drama free, aside from my one man corp I made before I finally quit for good. Then again, I'm not really one to talk, as I got involved in my fair share of drama myself, and even now it's still coming back to bite me in the ass.

Blogger won't let me move this to the right for some reason.

Anyways, in contrast to Eve, X3 is a single player game, so any player interaction is usually done on forums, therefore there's usually no drama. Furthermore, the X universe community is rather well informed and helpful. For someone starting out or well into the game, there's always a well written guide or knowledgeable person on the official forums for whatever you need. Plus the modding community is awesome.

Marines? What are you doing on my TL? You can't do anything here. There's no ships that need to be captured. Get off, you're just taking up space in my massive cargohold.

Hurp, this is silly. But I needed to get that bit on Eve out of my system..

tl;dr It's time to play some X3: Terran Conflict. Also I should make more Vocaloid related posts.

Edit: I should note that if you liked Freelancer then you might like this game too.
